I chose this article because it gives the perspective from the countries neighboring Syria and how they are being affected by the Syrian civil war. I though that this would be good for the blog to show that the civil war in Syria is affecting a lot of people and countries. Turkey, Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq are all being affected in some way because of the civil war in Syria. Iraq has been directly involved Sunni and Shia fighters have been joining the Syrian civil war which i found very interesting. Sunni are for the opposition and Shia siding with al-Assad's regime. Israel was the second country that has fired its own weapons on a Syrian armored vehicle because shells from Syria exploded in Israel occupied Golan Heights. The location of Syria and how instance the civil wars is is putting the countries around Syria at great risk of all at war with each other.
It seems that most of the countries in agree with the fact that Syria is wrong for what they did to their citizens. This article also shows how wars and incidents not only just effect the countries itself, but also neighboring countries that are somewhat forced to get involved. They also have to now deal with the influx of refugees fleeing from the country. I agree that civil wars in Syria do put it's neighboring countries at risk of entering war.
ReplyDeleteI think most of us (myself included) did not even think about the impact of the Syrian civil war on the other countries that are so close. They are not super powers like the U.S. or Russia. But I think it is safe to say that they are more involved than the U.S. or Russia these countries are in physical contact with Syria and her people. The U.S. and Russian governments are "talking" to the Syrian government. We may have sent troops but they will return, the countries surrounding Syria can not move or leave its their home! All they are doing is defending themselves my fear is that it could lead to all out war because of that!
